Plain language, and short on purpose. NextCall is a free game with nothing at stake, so most of what a long agreement usually covers does not arise here.

Status of this document

This is a draft and has not been reviewed by a lawyer. It describes how NextCall actually behaves today and is published so you can read the rules you are playing under rather than none at all. It is not legal advice, and it will be replaced by a reviewed version before NextCall operates as a monetised public service. Where this draft and the published game rules disagree about how the game works, the game rules are correct.

What you are agreeing toFree to play, nothing at stake. Points are a record, not currency — not exchangeable, transferable or redeemable.

By using NextCall you agree to these terms. If you do not, do not use it — nothing is lost, because there is nothing to pay and nothing to withdraw.

Who can playThere is a published minimum age, set by the launch policy where you are. NextCall is not directed at children.

Your accountPlay as a guest with no details at all. Add an email only for cross-device continuity, a permanent profile and recovery. One account per person.

Playing fairlyNo automated submission, no writing outside the deadline, no interfering with resolution or another player’s account.

Answer the questions. Do not attempt to interfere with how NextCall works or with anyone else’s use of it. Specifically: no automated submission of answers, no attempt to submit after a deadline or to alter a recorded answer by any route other than the one on the page, no interference with the resolution process, and no attempt to access the editorial console or another player’s account.

We may suspend or remove an account that does these things. Because nothing of value is ever awarded, this costs you a record and nothing else.

Results, voids and correctionsSettled against the rule published before you answered. Voids score nothing; a wrong result is superseded, never overwritten.

Each question is settled against the resolution rule and the source published on the card before you answered. Deadlines are enforced on the server clock, not your device’s, and an answer recorded after the deadline is refused.

Voids: A question that cannot be settled under its published rule is voided with a reason. It scores nothing and leaves your accuracy untouched
Delays: A late or unclear source leaves a result pending. It never produces a guessed outcome
Corrections: A wrong result is superseded by a new version rather than overwritten, leaderboards are recomputed, and anyone affected is told what changed and why
Final: A result published under the predeclared rule is final. Since nothing of value turns on it, there is no appeal process — but genuine errors are corrected

Availability and changesProvided as it is, with no promise of uptime. A game day may be missed and the service may change or stop.

NextCall is provided as it is, with no promise that it will be available, uninterrupted, or free of errors. A game day may be missed, a result may be delayed, and the service may change or stop entirely. Because the service is free and nothing of value is ever awarded, we do not accept liability for loss arising from any of this, except where the law does not allow that to be excluded.

These terms may change. The date at the top of this page is when it last did. Material changes will be announced in the product rather than made silently.

ContentQuestions, rules and results belong to the operator; the underlying facts belong to the agencies that publish them and are cited.

Questions, resolution rules, results and the design of NextCall belong to its operator. Underlying facts do not — an observation published by a meteorological agency is that agency’s, and is cited on the question that uses it. Do not republish NextCall’s question set wholesale; quoting a question and linking to it is welcome.
